Michael Volle is a baritone who began making a notable operatic career in the late 1990s.

His teachers were Josef Metternich and Rudolf Piernay. He sings primarily in Mannheim, Bonn, Düsseldorf and Cologne, and in major European festivals.

His major roles are those of Mozart's Count Almaviva and Don Giovanni (which he has sung in several houses) and Eugene Onegin, which he sang in Cologne in October 2000. He has sung in smaller parts at the Paris Opéra-Bastille, La Scala in Milan, and the Deutsche Oper in Berlin. He has appeared on several recordings.
